Interactive training: practice and benefits

An implementation of interactive training systems using virtual or augmented reality technologies in enterprises are just beginning their thorny path and exist in 2019 in single copies. Virtual reality in Russia is currently at rudimentary condition and as to the training, it makes its shy steps to the industrial sector due to: weak prevalence does not allow to estimate economic efficiency for the period of three to five years. There are only few true projects that have been finished and implemented in training system for practical application.

At the same time, in the United States and Europe, large commercial companies are successfully implementing such systems in huge numbers and see the future behind it.

When are virtual reality technologies almost irreplaceable?

A case out of practice. Imagine a radio tower that is far away in the mountains. Employees of the facility work as watchmen and the ability to attract such people, very narrow specialization, to the process of training young and prospective workers tends to zero. In the existing training process, there is already documentation describing the work on the equipment that is part of these towers. But it is outdated because some devices have been modernized and replaced with modern counterparts. And if you have ever seen the instructions for technical staff, you understand that without a competent teacher and visual materials something is too difficult to understand.

As a result, the organization has a description of the work on the tower with equipment that is no longer in operation, separate manuals for upgraded and replaced blocks, but it is not clear how the remaining (old) and modernized ( new) equipment, as there is no general description of how they work together. Adopting experience on the ground is not always possible because of the small number of employees of the right specialty, the inaccessibility of the object or the modest size of the workspace, as in the case of the tower: the shift consists of three people, and even one extra person will make it harder for the whole team to work.

In such cases, it is much more effective to transfer the knowledge base into an electronic form, to involve a specialized specialist to compile (or most often adjust) practical tasks and visualize them with the help of augmented or virtual reality, to further train young professionals without distracting valuable staff from work.

The benefits of online training

The use of virtual reality technologies allows you to create the most up-to-date curriculum with the acquisition of practical skills, which will never give any paper instruction. Practice shows that the introduction of such a system significantly increases the level of training of specialists: they better assimilate the material, their real understanding of what and where is located inside and outside the facility is ten times higher than that of the flow of students on the Classic model.

Training in augmented and virtual reality allows:

  • to reduce the number of errors in the management of complex equipment, as it becomes possible to visualize and master even the most complex complexes with many buttons and levers;
  • to simulate emergencies and work out how staff act;
  • to save on building natural models for training, such as aircraft cabins;
  • to preserve and transmit the experience to new employees in a remote format, without being tied to the location of students and the object.

The advantages of virtual reality technology in training outside of competition and every year more and more companies in Russia understands the importance of this approach. Building the training process on the virtual reality system allows in the future to improve the quality of knowledge and skills and recoup investments in technology by reducing errors in work.
